Viisionary, an artist from Montreal QC, Canada, decided to launch his music career while still enrolled in sound design school in early 2018. Writing songs since the age of 12 years old he quickly acquired a love and passion for hip-hop music. He proudly wears the name Viisionary to remind himself to keep his eyes on the prize even through the toughest battles and it’s the message that he brings foward through his music. He hopes to inspire people to dream big and go after what they want because in his own words “We should all be Visionaries”
Here is what Viisionary had to say about the song, “The butterfly song is based on some of my personal struggles especially mentally and emotionally. The year 2018 didn’t end the way I would’ve wanted to and it took toll on me so I wrote this song as way of letting my real feelings out. I chose a lofi hip-hop sound to really match the mood I was in at the time I wrote the song. It’s sort of a chill and relaxed type of beat where I really wanted to place emphasis on the ambience so that the listeners could just feel the vibe. As for the lyrics, I make lots of references to the butterfly because it usually represents the beginning of something new so when I say, “I wish I could see the light”, it means that I want to die to my old self and let go of the past and have a fresh start sort of like when a butterfly breaks out of its cocoon. I don’t think you need to be a hip hop music fan to enjoy this song because I think that some ways anyone could relate to it.”
