The clip takes the song’s story of a reunited couple with Taggart and Halsey seeing each other in a hotel bar and reflecting on their time in Tucson, per the lyrics. In between scenes of their past and present, they’re seen in bed together while still a couple, singing the song as they roll around and kiss. The video ends with Halsey exiting the bar as Taggart follows her out, finally locking eyes.
“Closer” will appear on the Chainsmokers’ forthcoming sophomore EP Collage, which will be released on November 4th. The EP will feature previously released singles “Don’t Let Me Down” featuring Daya, “All We Know” featuring Phoebe Ryan and “Inside Out” featuring Charlee as well as new track “Setting Fires” featuring Xylø.
