RuudAwakening was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti and moved to Broward County, FL at the age of 7. He left his seperated parents behind to live with different uncles and aunts and likes to joke that he had 7 mothers to describe his chilhood experience. With a longing to find where he truly belonged he came across the song “The Moment of Truth” by Gang Starr while playing PS2 Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 and his life has never been the same.
Through Hip Hop RuudAwakening was able to find comfort, solace, refuge, and a place where he can be understood. Indebted forever his purpose of existence is to be able to pay it forward through his own heartfelt music. RuudAwakening’s music can be described as all emotions come to one resting place and with influences such as Jay-Z, Kanye, Nas, Kid Cudi, A$AP Rocky and too many others he’s able to do so in a refreshing yet piercing way.
Underneath the brazen, unabashed freedom of expression and creativity there’s always a deep undertone of spirituality and RuudAwakening thanks Osho, Jiddu Krishnamurti, Eckhart Tolle, Mooji, Nithyananda, Sadhguru, Byron Katie, Swami Jyotirmayandanda, and also his dreaded group meeting teacher Kieran O’Toole amongst others for their dedication and devotion towards humanity.
Here is what RuudAwakening had to say about “Freedom”, “This song is about Freedom in all sorts. I feel like everyone has their battles that they fight and it’s about being free from that war, whatever it is, whether it’s freedom from depression or oppression, really any kind of affliction, mentally physically or even spiritually, just to be free from whatever it is that you are fighting. And the speaker wants this freedom himself too.”
