Alexiane – Safe Haven

Having already racked up over 10 million YouTube views with her debut single “A Million on My Soul” (2017), the young French-Canadian and Senegalese soul singer-songwriter is now releasing the music video for “SAFE HAVEN,” a sensuous romp through the French countryside set to the singer’s gritty and passionate tale of healing and redemption.

“This video is honest and raw,” says Alexiane. “I wear no make-up. I look the camera straight in the lens. This is who I am.” With her vulnerability and confidence on full display, Alexiane’s powerhouse vocals leave no doubt about her determination, her infinitely expressive voice seamlessly gliding from airy, honey-soaked heights to demon-exorcising, throaty rasps.

The demons in “SAFE HAVEN” come in the form of eczema, a skin disorder that Alexiane has battled her entire life. Says Alexiane: “I’ve experienced the feeling of being trapped in my own skin––or trapped by my own skin,” which is where the video begins: With the singer trapped in a literal bubble. Propelled by her grit and conviction––and a heart-stopping vocal performance––the bubble breaks to find Alexiane at peace and full of hope as she glides across the verdant landscape of the north of France.

“This video may be raw, but it is full of hope,” Alexiane says. “It’s a very personal song”––Breathe in, breathe out is a constant lyrical motif. “I’m drawn to writing about the journey from hurt to healing, and everything that it takes to find strength. Stay positive, even when it is hard. Find a passion that will be there when everything seems hopeless. And notice how beautiful life is. We all have demons, but I know that we all have safe havens. Music is my safe haven.”

A portion of the profits from “SAFE HAVEN” will be donated to the International Topical Steroid Addiction Network (ITSAN), a community dedicated to raising awareness about topical steroid addiction, a common but seldom-discussed issue faced by those suffering from skin disorders. https://itsan.org hosts an online discussion forum for those dealing with topical steroid addiction and includes resources and information about these issues.
